Robbie McIntosh: news |
Hello Playmates,
Welcome to my (almost) bi-annual newsletter which is an update of what I'm currently doing. Well, as we speak, I'm in Los Angeles rehearsing for an upcoming tour with John Mayer.
As you may, or should, know, John is a singer/songwriter/guitar player from Connecticut who, for a singer is a great songwriter... I mean for a songwriter is a great guitar player... I mean for a guitar player is a great singer... I mean for a great... Oh, I give up!!! Anyway we're rehearsing now for a US tour with Sheryl Crow. Double headliner.
John has a new album on the way called "Continuum" which is fantastic. We'll be playing most of it live on the gigs, and what a pleasure it will be!
It's an 8-piece band:
These guys are GOOD!! Really good.
What's more, a friend of mine, Jeremy Stacey, is Sheryl Crow's drummer. He's from Poole in Dorset, lives in London and we've worked together in the past. So it's nice to have a British buddy out here.
So much has happened since we last spoke; Ice age, Industrial revolution, Dawn of time etc. But you may want to hear me playing on an upcoming Oliver Darley album which is really good, produced by, and played on by genius piano player Jason Rubello. Great album with Shona Daly who is brilliant. And the new album by Brian Houston. I played on some of it and would love to give it a plug. It got a good review in Mojo. Many other things, but these ones stand out.
Still trying to find time to do that "Unsung 2" album. Plenty of songs waiting to be recorded for another Robbie McIntosh Band album too. I'll get there in the end.
Phew!! Cocktails by the pool I suppose. Life is tough.
All the best,
Hasta La Pasta,
Robbie

Robbie is currently on a summer John Mayer tour. Since his notes above, the band has changed a bit. Tim Bradshaw now plays keyboards, Bob Reynolds now plays tenor and soprano saxophone, and Brad Mason now plays trumpet.
